The delicate macaroons are artfully brushed with the fruit used to flavor them. In the mood for something sweet and salty? Try the salted caramel macaroon, a heavenly mix of sweet, rich caramel infused with salt, squeezed between a light, crisp macaroon shell. Or try Penvenne’s favorite, the classic French pastry featuring three layers of puff pastry, two layers of pastry crème and topped with a glazed icing. The mix of different textures and flavors makes the Napoleon the perfect bite.
But don’t leave the pâtisserie without sampling one of the dozens of unique sorbets and ice creams that are made fresh at Méli-Mélo. The pâtisserie features up to 36 flavors, including exotic ones such as goat cheese, calamansi, raspberry rose with rose water from Iraq and pumpkin. Penvenne and his team of chefs come up with the flavors, a process that starts with asking the question, “How about this?” The sorbets and ice creams are made with fresh fruits and ingredients and flavors change on a seasonal basis.
